Thunder bird is very important to the Kwakwaka’wakw, who in legendary times made a deal with the powerful supernatural bird, named for his habit of causing thunder and lightning. He is large and strong enough to hunt Killer Whale.
This finely carved Feast Dish has been carved from Red Cedar with all the lines deeply carved. The Dish measures
12 1/2 inches long x 5 1/2 inches wide and stands 1 inch in height.
